Introducing Endnotes on Substack

I’ve had an email list for as long as I can remember.

First, it was a Feedburner link that allowed readers to receive new posts via RSS or in their email inbox. Next, I had a Mailchimp account that grew to a few hundred subscribers, followed by another for My Morning Routine which reached ~12,000 subscribers before we decided to stop publishing in 2019.

At this time, a handful of subscribers followed me over to my list, and I soon restarted a personal newsletter, which I named Endnotes in 2020.

Fast forward to the spring of 2022. After almost three years of delivering a weekly newsletter I needed a break. What was prescribed by my wife (and co-signed by me) as a summer hiatus, soon turned into 2.5 years of no newsletters.

Now, Endnotes is back, this time on Substack.

What is Endnotes?

Endnotes is a fortnightly newsletter turning overlooked quotes in books into ideas for better living. I follow my curiosity as to what topics to discuss, some of which I find fascinating and return to often, others come to me in the moment.

I believe it’s important to work on something that you find interesting, while at the same time bringing value to others. I love this quote from Richard Powers in The Overstory:

She needs some impossible trifecta: hopeful, useful, and true… But hope and truth do nothing for humans, without use.

My goal for Endnotes is for us to discuss passages of hope and truth, while making it useful at the same time.

When you sign up (for free), you’ll also receive a PDF of some of my favorite interviews from my book on morning routines, including:

  • Retired U.S. Army four-star General Stanley McChrystal
  • Three-time U.S. Olympic gold medalist in swimming, Rebecca Soni
  • Former President of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, Ed Catmull
  • Founder of the Huffington Post and Thrive Global, Arianna Huffington

I look forward to seeing and interacting with you all on Substack!
